Pumpkin Patch

I love Autumn. The sun is still warm but there's a definite chill in the air. Nights are colder (time for more blankets!) There's warm soups stewing in the crockpot and pumpkin bread in the oven. Apples are ripe on the trees and fresh pressed apple cider tantalizes my tastebuds. And the trees! Oh the vivid red, yellow and orange leaves! (Though I don't have any current pictures, trust me when I say its beautiful.)

October also brings a joyous activity (if you're a kid) called a pumpkin patch. Sad to say that Colorado Springs doesn't have any of the "real" variety; that is, you don't find pumpkins attached to an actual vine because they don't grow them around here. But it is a fun fall themed carnival of sorts for the little ones. Last Friday Brian and I celebrated 5 years of marriage, and because of his crazy work schedule right now and having a nursing baby, an evening alone wasn't in the cards this year. But Brian was able to take the afternoon off and we took the kids to a local pumpkin patch. It was a beautiful afternoon that we all enjoyed outside.
